A revitalized the Russian player secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
